Our napkins recall the decorative registers of an Italian woodcut (1567) designed by Giuseppe Salviati (Giuseppe Porta, called Il Salviati) (Italian, ca. 1520-1575) and published by Giovanni Ostaus (Italian, ca. 1554-91). Featuring on page 18 of La Vera Perfettione del Disegno di varie sorti di recami, the motifs showcase floral and foliate patterns in solid white and shaded gray.
