Our stylish unisex scarf adapts the star motif on a relief-printed paper sheet (18th century) in the Museum’s Department of Drawings and Prints. Featuring a graphic red pattern created by an anonymous artisan, the sheet was probably designed to be pasted into a book as a decorative endpaper. Block-printed paper reached the height of its popularity during the 18th century.
