Our elegant etched 8-ounce flute recalls the scrolling foliage pattern on a piece of British blackwork embroidery in The Met collection. Blown in Poland and etched in the US, this unique stemware coordinates with other matching pieces and makes a great gift. Made about 1590, the original textile features silk and gilded-metal-wrapped thread on the finest Flemish linen. A form of embroidery using black silk thread, blackwork was popular in England for garments and textiles under Henry VIII and remained in vogue through the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
