In celebration of the reopening of the Museum’s galleries of British decorative arts and sculpture, The Met and Harney & Sons are pleased to present this custom blend of green tea, black tea, and bergamot in 20 handy sachets. Our unique and vivid offering celebrates Great Britain’s ongoing fascination with tea by drawing on historic flavors. The tin is decorated with 18th-century teapots in The Met collection. In the 17th century, the first teas that came to England from China were green teas, an ancient aspect of East Asian culture. The subsequent development and export of black teas led to their widespread popularity-including the variation, with a distinct lemony bergamot flavor, named for Charles, the 2nd Earl Grey.
