Egyptian Teardrop Bead Aventurine and Silver Necklace from The Met Museum

$125

This handsome necklace with teardrop-shaped aventurine and sterling silver beads pays homage to an ancient Egyptian necklace in The Met collection. Made during Dynasty 15 (ca. 1648-1540 B.C.), the original beads are made of sard-a type of chalcedony-and are on view in Gallery 111 at The Met, which displays examples of the height of Middle Kingdom art. Middle Kingdom jewelers crafted exquisite adornments that exhibited notable delicacy and finesse in every tiny detail.
