Demuth Yellow and Blue Watercolor Square Silk Scarf from The Met Museum

$89

Charles Demuth’s (American, 1883-1935) ethereal Yellow and Blue (1915) is translated onto our elegant silk scarf. Yellow and white flowers emerge from a dreamy atmosphere in this watercolor on paper; Demuth’s use of watery pigment may have been influenced by his contemporary, John Marin (American, 1870-1953), whose work he could have seen in Paris and New York exhibitions. Demuth was friends with the esteemed painter Georgia O’Keeffe (American, 1887-1986), who bequeathed this meditative composition to The Met as part of the Alfred Stieglitz collection in honor of her husband.
