Add a touch of romance with our oversized scarf featuring a field of vibrant blooms that you can fold, tie, and wrap with flair. In September 1848, Eugène Delacroix (French, 1798-1863) retreated to his country house to escape the turmoil of post-revolutionary Paris. There he created a group of flower paintings from life, meant for the Salon of 1849. Because of the possibility of frost, he worked quickly and produced five canvases. Shown in detail on our shawl, Basket of Flowers in The Met was one of only two paintings he deemed suitable for the Salon. The colors of this digitally printed wool scarf can appear brighter or more muted depending on the light and the wearer’s garments.
